Dialogue on “Fostering Trust amongst Pakistan’s Water Institution in Data Measurement and Monitoring” at Islamabad

Pakistan’s water sector faces multi-faceted management challenges. The Indus Basin Irrigation System (IBIS) remains the backbone of the country’s economy and food security. Managing the IBIS needs rethinking and meaningful partnership of stakeholders across the provinces. Fostering trust amongst the water institutions of Pakistan is needed to complement the investments in telemetry and similar technology. PCRWR in partnership with IWMI (International Water Management Institute) organized country-wide dialogues participated by the water professionals to discuss some of the consensus points further. Plenary session of the dialogue was held on 28th December 2020 at PCRWR HQs. Islamabad. Participants included members of Indus River System Authority (IRSA), Federal Flood Commission, and provincial Irrigation Departments of the 4 provinces.
