World Water Day is celebrated on March 22 each year with a different theme to create awareness among the global population. This year the Global theme is “Water and Climate Change”. Keeping in view the Pakistan’s perspective, water and climate is a burning challenge of today. Adaptation to this challenge and building climate resilient communities are the pressing need requiring a concerted effort at different levels. In an effort to create awareness at different levels Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) along with its supporting partners ACIAR, ICIMOD, The Asia Foundation, CCRD, Riphah International University, Technology Times, ICARDA and UNESCO planned various activities including public awareness, seminar on water conservation, debate/poster competition among young water champs, clean and green Pakistan, Workshop on water and climate change during 16th-20th March 2020. Unfortunately, all activities except social media campaign have to postponed due to coronavirus situation in the country. About 300 volunteers from different universities of Pakistan participated in this social media campaign by setting up a Hashtag #Water4Pakistan and lead it to success as the Hashtag remained among the top 10 trends on tweeter in Pakistan on 22nd March, 2020. The team of volunteers also created about 400 short messages which were posted on different social media networks for public awareness.
