On July 31, 2019 a stakeholder consultation workshop was organized jointly by PCRWR and UNESCO in Quetta. The Secretary Culture, Archaeology and Tourism, Government of Balochistan, Mr Zafar Ali Buledi was Chief Guest of the event. The Chairman PCRWR, Dr. Muhammad Ashraf and UNESCO Country Director, Ms Vibeke Jensen highlighted the importance of Karezes in Balochistan and their possible nomination as World’s Cultural Heritage. Later on, the World Heritage Expert, Ms Ayesha Rogers gave a detailed presentation on the nomination process and documentation requirements. The President ECO-Science Foundation, Dr Manzoor Hussain Soomro and Director, Department of Archaeology, Government of Pakistan Dr. Tahir Saeed were also present. The workshop was attended by executives and senior managers from various provincial government and non-profit organizations, including ; Irrigation Department, Agricultural Engineering Department, On farm Water Management Department , Agriculture Department, Public Health Engineering Department, Balochistan Forest and Wildlife Department, Livestock department, Local Government, Balochistan Rural Support Program (BRSP), United Nations Development Program (UNDP), World Food Programme (WFP), UN-Women, Legends Society and BUITEMS University.
